Blue Lady in Vermilion Hue 2017

Looking for a statement piece?   A stunning artwork that is an absolute visual feast. Created using mixed media on quality watercolour paper.
This Art work was completed in 2017 for my first Solo Exhibition, “The Painted Ladies” at Ten Thousand Paces Gallery Bowral. This striking artwork is an extension of my life drawing sessions, often I will use my quick sketches from life drawing sessions at a later date to create more involved artworks.
These ‘Colour Play’ artworks were inspired by some of my favourite Great Masters such as Toulouse Lautrec and Matisse. This piece is also a fun colour play using the complimentary colours of blue and orange and of course a little play on words! Its ironic that the “Blue Lady” does not seem very Blue at all but actually very self composed and assured of herself .. a little of that Vermillion Hue permeating perhaps?
